Submitting the CSOS Form CS 1 – Registration of a Community Scheme is required by Regulation 18(3) of the Community Schemes Ombud Service Act Regulations, which states that:

“(3) A community scheme must file the registration in Form CS 1, within 30 (thirty) days of –

(a) coming into effect of this Regulation; or
(b) its date of incorporation in terms of
applicable laws.”

In order to ensure compliance with this Regulation, every community scheme must register with the Community Schemes Ombud Service, or CSOS, which was established in terms of the Community Schemes Ombud Service Act, 2011 (Act No 9 of 2011) to regulate the conduct of parties within community schemes and to create an affordable dispute resolution mechanism for those residing within sectional title schemes and home owners associations. Follow the steps below to register your sectional title scheme, home owners’ association or other community scheme:

  1. Download the fillable form using the link below
  2. Fill in the form with the details of your scheme
  3. Completed forms must be emailed to registration@csos.org.za or submitted at your nearest CSOS office.
