Community Schemes Copilot is an annual legal support subscription designed specifically for Bodies Corporate and Home Owners Associations. This service gives scheme executives access to affordable, expert legal advice, training, and support throughout the year — without unpredictable legal bills — helping you to budget accordingly.
Our goal is to empower scheme executives with proactive legal advice, training, and a sense of community, while helping schemes remain compliant and well-governed.
Annual Commitment, Monthly Billing
All plans are billed monthly over 12 months to ensure affordability and ease of budgeting. The subscription is annual and renewable. Custom packages are available on request.

Tiers on offer:
Tier 1: Copilot Core
Perfect for small schemes or tight budgets wanting foundational support.
Included:
- 2 hours to chair the AGM
- 2 hours to assist with AGM preparation
- 2 hours for a mid-year trustee review meeting
- 30 minutes/month for ad hoc legal advice
- Access to our legal Q&A forum (with 24-hour response time)

Tier 2: Copilot Plus
For schemes wanting more legal access and ongoing training.
Everything in Tier 1, plus:
- 2 hours/month for additional ad hoc advice
- 4 seats on the Introductory Course in Sectional Title or HOA Management (valued at R1,600)

Tier 3: Copilot Pro
For medium to large schemes needing regular trustee support.
Everything in Tiers 1 and 2, plus:
- Trustee Induction & Onboarding – a 1-hour session for newly elected trustees explaining their duties, powers, and legal obligations
- Monthly 1-hour attendance at trustee meetings
- Rule Compliance Audit – a once-a-year review of conduct & management rules for alignment with STSMA, CSOS Act, and recent case law
- Contract Vetting – 3 hours a year to review supplier or service provider contracts before trustees sign

Meet your Copilot
Auren Freitas dos Santos
Auren obtained his LLB from the University of North West and his LLM from ISDE in Madrid, Spain. He then served as an ad hoc Clerk of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court after returning to South Africa and initially focused on Labour Law, but went on to become the Legal Compliance Officer for one of the largest real estate groups in South Africa. It is here that he gained insight into, and experience in, the practical and legal aspects of community scheme management – experience he later put to great use in his position as the principal attorney at one of the most prominent law firms in the country specialising in community schemes law. In 2016, Auren founded The Advisory, where his past experience serves him and his clients well as he serves as director and heads up the consulting division. Auren has also developed a short course on Home Owners’ Association Management in partnership with the University of Cape Town.
